- "I wasn't the only one. If a victor is considered desirable, the president gives them as a reward or allows people to buy them for an exorbitant amount of money. If you refuse, he kills someone you love. So you do it."
- —Finnick Odair[src]
During the course of the Hunger Games, countless victors were sex trafficked by President Snow. If a victor was deemed attractive by the public in the Capitol, the president could give the victor away as a reward for somebody doing him a favor, or in exchange for money. If the victor refused, President Snow would kill one of their loved ones.[1]
History[]
The start of the trafficking of victors is unknown.
Patrons would often give victors money or jewelry to make themselves feel better. However at some point, Finnick Odair requested secrets from his patrons instead, and later revealed these for a propo during the Second Rebellion.[1] He could have up to four or five patrons during each annual visit to the Capitol after turning sixteen.[2]
Known victims[]
- Cashmere of District 1 - won 64th Hunger Games at age 15, trafficked from age 16[1]
- Enobaria of District 2 - won 62nd Hunger Games at age unknown.
- Finnick Odair of District 4 - won 65th Hunger Games at age 14, trafficked from age 16[2]
- Johanna Mason of District 7 - won 71st Hunger Games at age 17[3]
Speculated victims[]
- Gloss of District 1 won 63rd Hunger Games at age 15. Given that Cashmere was trafficked[1] and that both siblings were "classically beautiful",[4] fans speculate that Gloss was sold alongside his sister.
