- Lucy Gray Baird: "So nice to meet you. Is this your sister?"
Pontius: "That's Venus. She's only four."
Lucy Gray Baird: "Well, I think four is a very smart age to be. Nice to meet you, Venus." - —Pontius introducing his sister to Lucy Gray[src]
Venus was a four-year-old girl who talked to Lucy Gray Baird when she was in the Capitol Zoo. She had an older brother named Pontius.
Biography[]
Venus was among a group of small children clustered near the bars of the monkey house, where the tributes of the 10th Hunger Games were located. Prompted by Coriolanus Snow, Lucy Gray Baird walked over and shook hands with Pontius, then asked him about Venus, who stood next to him. Venus complimented Lucy Gray's song and nodded when Lucy Gray said she would try to sing another. She also asked Lucy Gray about the snake and told her she had a fish named Bub. After this exchange, Venus buried her face in her mother's skirt, garnering laughter from the crowd.[1]
Etymology[]
In Roman mythology, Venus was the goddess of love and beauty.
