Velo was one of two female tributes from District 6 who participated in the 50th Hunger Games.^[1] She was revealed to have died on the first day of the games.

Biography[]

50th Hunger Games[]

Before the start of the games, Velo joined an alliance between District 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 tributes in an attempt to counter the Career pack. She and the rest of her district initially hesitated but changed their minds when they were bullied by the Careers during training and Haymitch Abernathy showed them kindness.^[2]

During the Tribute Parade, the chariot carrying District 6 was crashed into by that of District 12 after the horses were startled and bolted. When they arrived at training, they were bandaged up in a lot of gauze.^[3]

Velo died in the initial bloodbath.^[4]

Physical appearance[]

Like the others in her district, she had rickety limbs and looked like she'd never seen daylight.

Velo, along with the other three tributes from District 6, wore "iridescent gray coveralls with wheel-shaped crowns" during the chariot rides.^[5]

Etymology[]

Short for "velocity," directly tied to speed and movement.
