Urchin was one of two male tributes from District 4 who participated in the 50th Hunger Games.[1] He was one of four Career Tributes who died on the first day.
Biography[]
50th Hunger Games[]
Urchin was part of the Career pack in these Games.
After a disastrous Tribute Parade, the District 4 tributes had to share a chariot back to their apartment with Haymitch Abernathy. They weren't happy about it and once they stopped, Urchin used his fake trident to shove Haymitch off the chariot.[1]
Death[]
Urchin survived the initial bloodbath but still died on the first day after eating or drinking something poisonous.[2] After winning the Games, Haymitch watched a heavily edited recap of the Games, which included Urchin's death.
Physical description[]
Urchin, along with the other three tributes from District 4, wore a "shimmering deep sea–blue mer[man] suit" during the chariot rides.[3] Their training outfits were deep-sea blue.[4]
Personality and traits[]
Urchin appeared to be quite confident. He also had a mean streak, as he intentionally tripped Haymitch Abernathy during the annual chariot parade for the Quarter Quell.[1]
Etymology[]
Although the term "urchin" originally meant "hedgehog" in Old English, it is more commonly associated with sea urchins, spiny-shelled sea creatures. This simultaneously connects with Urchin's prickly attitude and with his district's specialty.
