They were in the same age box. All eligible tributes are put into categories in town square based on age. Katniss' mother is there to comfort Mages mother as Maysilee's name is called and she has to go to the podium. Catching Fire p. 196 (hard cover). After Katniss mentions how Maysilee's sister looks exactly like her, Peeta says that his dad mentioned that Maysilee and her sister were "twins or something".

I wonder whose going to portray her in catching fire she must be played by a very pretty and young actress since she died and I do agree she probley should have blue-green eyes and wavy hair

Seam/Merchant?[]
Was Maysilee Donner from the Merchant area in District 12? Because I know Mrs Everdeen was her best friend and came from the Merchant area, so it suggests that Maysilee might have as well... but I'm not sure because Mrs Everdeen married a person from the Seam? 2.27.244.98 20:10, January 11, 2014 (UTC)
- Well we can't really presume that as both Seam and Merchant born tributes do go to the same school and so could be friends (Peeta and Katniss for example). RainbowShifter 20:52, January 11, 2014 (UTC)
- P. 8 "Hunger Games" Katniss talks about how her mother and sister look out of place in the Seam because of their blond hair and blue eyes. It is mentioned in a few places that blone hair blue eyes are almost always members of the merchant class while everyone with dark hair and gray eyes are from the Seam. It can then be assumed that Maysilee and her sister are merchant kids... not to mention p. 196 of Catching Fire Katniss states that when the camera finds Maysilee with two other girls they were "All definitely merchants' kids."
Age Confirmation[]
For the wiki contributor that added that Maysilee was seventeen; how did you confirm her age, since it was never mentioned Maysilee's age?

p. 196 Catching Fire. At this point Katniss is 17 years old. "I catch a glimpse of my mother at my age...". Therefore Maysilee was at least 16-18
