Ok, maybe i'm crazy, but if this becomes a movie do y'all agree that Robert Downy Jr. would make a GREAT Haymitch?? Well i think he would =\ i don't want it to be a movie tho. It always ruins everything. Oh and jodie foster could do good as Katniss's mother (forget her name =\...)Sawyer67 22:44, October 14, 2010 (UTC)Love Sawyer!!!

robert downey jr would make a good haymitch but i think i would prefer haymitch to be played by jack black because he is drunk, (haymitch not jack black!)

it might make it into a comedy though but whaddya reckon guys?

Why does Haymitch always {usually} appear drunk?

Clove1001~ :D Hit me up! 15:07, October 24, 2011 (UTC)

Clove: He's just an alcoholic. Annawantimes (Talk) 04:59, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

The way Haymitch was trying to get Katniss to play the "Star-crossed lovers" game made me think that he was trying to play matchmaker. She kissed him and she got an immediate care package. She said there is no one to compare Peeta to and they get a feast. All of these happened in a heartbeat. Well Haymitch is suppose to line up donors and determine when the packages get sent. He obivously already had the packages in tow, he just wanted to play matchmaker in my opinion.

See, there was no need to play the game of lovers that late into the Hunger Games. Plus Haymitch already knew that Peeta's love was real. Sure the capitol was mad at the end, but that was cause of Katniss' defiance, not their love.

So in my opinion Haymitch knew the lovers game was part of gaining sponsers and favor, but the way he made Katniss play the game seemed to me like he was playing matchmaker. He liked Peeta and wanted to see him happy with Katniss.

All along he said, "He is too good for you" and I think he meant it, but he knew Peeta loved her and Haymitch wanted her to love Peeta too. 20:43, February 9, 2012 (UTC)Michael

Haymitch and the Hunger Games

How did winning the Hunger Games impact Haymitch? Does Katniss feel immune to those feelings 00:18, February 20, 2012 (UTC)Andre Eimers

Whys there no content on this page? Im thinkin smoeone should probably add the content back... Id do it, but i dont know that much about Haymitch so i cant really add anything...

Amazingness is mine! lol:) GlimmerandSparkle 19:14, April 1, 2012 (UTC) Really? Where

Yeah he is sooo hot! i fell in love with him in the books though =) xx StandAndFight 11:45, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Haha (Spoiler alert! Possibly!)

I just saw the movie and it was a little sad that Haymitch was the funniest. When he sent her the pot of hot broth, there was a note that said You call that a kiss? I laughed so hard (but in my mhind, because everyone in the theatre would have been pretty mad!) The only other parts that were funny were when the Careers died (I think I'm from the capitol!)

Haymitch is beast he won THE 2ND QQHG double tributes, one victor

TooMuchPower 17:29, June 3, 2012 (UTC)

Hey all

I think this bit needs changing -

"Haymitch and Effie do not start off right. They first encounter each other when Haymitch shows up drunk"

Haymitch has been mentoring district 12 tributes for years; and Effie has also been in her role a while - Katniss says several things that suggest this such as when she states that Effie says 'ladies first' when pulling a name, as she 'always does'.

I think this means they must have known each other and been working together already? Please correct me if I'm wrong! thanks 17:40, July 16, 2012 (UTC)Katy

Where did his age come from? I don't remember that being mentioned. --{{SUBST:User:AvatarRokusGhost/Sig}} 00:24, August 29, 2012 (UTC)

He was 16 at the time of his Games, so 24 years later (HG) he would've been 40. Jsm13athome (talk) 00:28, August 29, 2012 (UTC)

Is it just me or in the catching fire movie do haymitch and katniss have kind of a father daughter relationship?

The ultimate victor?

I think it's worth mentioning that he's fought against the most tributes. He was put against 47 in his games, whereas all other victors faced off against either 46, 45 or 23. 12:14, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

Haymitch Work

At the Work paragraph it's probably worth mentioning that we do not know what he did prior to the games. Him having Seam grey eyes, however does indicate that he probably would be a minor, but since working in the mines is only for people of age it is likely that he did something else before or nothing (apart from school).

Also worth mentioning; one month's victor's allowance is enough to keep a family alive for a year, which is a reason he doesn't have to work. 01:43, December 25, 2013 (UTC)

Haymitch Abernathy's Family

Haymitch's Family This should be made. Mother: Mrs. Abernathy (mentioned in Mockingjay, when Katniss asked if Haymitch's body had been sold, like Finnick's) Father: Unknown, possibly, Mr. Abernathy Siblings: Younger brother (mentioned in Mockingjay, when Katniss asked if Haymitch's body had been sold, like Finnick's) Love Interest: 'his girl' (mentioned in Mockingjay, when Katniss asked if Haymitch's body had been sold, like Finnick's) ALL DECEASED.

Hazelle and Haymitch

Ok I'm going to sound like a nut job here but I really really really for some odd reason like the idea of Haymitch and Hazelle Hawthorne (the mother of Gale).Let me explain. After I watched the first movie,I felt really bad for Haymitch. Not only because he has to watch the tributes that he trains die every year and the fact that the stupid Capitol killed everyone he ever loved plus the whole drinking thing, blah, blah, blah but also because he never found love. And he raised geese in the end?Thats just sad.So when I starting reading Catching Fire when I was 11,I really started to realise something.Hazelle isn't seen in the movies but it is stated in the books that she worked as a housekeeper for Haymitch. So I began to think that maybe, just maybe,Haymitch would take a liking to her and then they'd start dated and stuff.Haymitch is my 6th favourite character in the series (after Rue,Katniss,Finnick,Mags,Cinna) so I really wanted him to have a happy ending.Thats why I kinda ship Hazelle and Haymitch.I know this is a very weird thing to ship but I like it. :)

I love Haymitch. He's irrational and drunk, but he's one of my favourite characters because he still cares! He can be harsh, but deep down, he really still cares for Katniss and Peeta. In books, their are characters who're like that, who are really nice inside, except that something about Haymitch is just different. My MOST favourite scene of his is when "SPOLIERS" Katniss breaks down (Mockingjay) and can't say her lines, so she turns to Haymitch for comfort, even though they were fighting just days ago. It broke me! I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!! Beeper100 (talk) 05:01, April 14, 2015 (UTC)

You know that video on YouTube about the 50th Hunger Games? I think we should add a photo of Haymitch from that into his article.

It's not official, but whatever. I mean, seriously, check the facts. Every single line they said in that video was from Catching Fire. Every. Single. Line. That's official enough for this wikia, I think.
