Satyria Click was Coriolanus Snow's communications professor at the Academy.

Biography[]

Click campaigned for Coriolanus to receive one of the 24 slots as a mentor in the 10th Hunger Games. He was her favorite student and her teaching aide. She was known to be unpredictable, and could be even more so if she had too much to drink. Coriolanus was deeply afraid of disappointing her. He also worried that if he let her down, she might have the power to remove him from his mentor position and replace him with someone else.

The day of the Reaping of the 10th Hunger Games, Satyria was seen telling a wild story to a group of Academy professors and Games officials. When Coriolanus arrived, she waved him over and complimented his shirt, receiving a compliment about her own gown in return. She then shook hands with Professor Agrippina Sickle and complimented Sejanus Plinth.[1]

Before the tributes arrived for the Games, Satyria led a mentor meeting where she detailed their first assignment.[2] Later, she congratulated Coriolanus on having pleased Dr. Volumnia Gaul, and was shocked upon hearing that Sejanus had offered to trade tributes with him earlier. After Arachne Crane's death, Satyria spoke at a schoolwide assembly, speaking of Arachne's personality in glowing terms. She also announced that Arachne's official funeral would be held the following day, broadcast live to all of Panem.[3]

Satyria called the Snows three times while Coriolanus was taking a nap after having visited the Capitol Zoo. When she called again, she requested him to sing the anthem at Arachne's funeral, due to his attempts to save her after she was attacked. She then questioned Coriolanus about his assigned tribute, Lucy Gray Baird, and found it unfair that the tributes had remained unfed.[4]

When rebel bombs exploded during a tour of the Capitol Arena and Coriolanus was injured, Satyria popped in to visit with some bakery cookies, giving him well-wishes and telling him that, while unfortunate, the incident could improve his chances for a prize. The next day, she called him to encourage him to attend school if he could manage, as there would be another mentor-tribute meeting.[5]

Satyria helped with small tasks during the 10th Hunger Games, such as taking the mentors to the Capitol News station to familiarize themselves with the machinery[6], rearranging chairs as more tributes died in the arena and their mentors left, and releasing the mentors when they were done for the night.[7] She also directed Coriolanus to the high biology lab after Lucy Gray won the Games.[8]

Personality and traits[]

Satyria was amusing and not overly uptight, as she was one of the few professors at the Academy that allowed students to call her by her first name. However, she had a habit of drinking excessively, not unlike many other adults at the Capitol. Satyria was often unpredictable, a trait that could be heightened with more drink.[1]

Etymology[]

Satyria is a genus of flowering plants. Her name may also refer to Satyrion or Satyria, a nymph in Greek mythology.
