"Safe & Sound" is the first single released from The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond. The song is performed and written by Taylor Swift and features The Civil Wars. This is one of two songs by Taylor Swift that were written for the film; the other song being "Eyes Open." Although the song was written for the film, it isn't featured in the film, but in the credits.

Taylor has since re-recorded many of her songs that were originally written and published prior to 2018, "Safe & Sound" and "Eyes Open" included. Both songs, now bearing the title of "(Taylor's Version)," were released at midnight on March 17th 2023 after being teased by Swift the previous day.

Lyrics[]

I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said I'll never let you go
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said
Don't leave me here alone
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight.

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound.

Don't you dare look out your window
Darlin', everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone.

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound.

Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound.
