Mamaw was Haymitch Abernathy's grandmother.
Biography[]
Mamaw was the mother of Haymitch's father.[2]
When Sid was born, she said that he was born looking on the sunny side. She told Haymitch that smells stick in your memory the strongest, more than sounds or sights.[3] She also said that "you never really knew who'd swim in a flood."[4] Her favorite candy was Maysilee Donner's hot pepper cherry taffy.[4]
At an unknown time, she passed away and her family made bean and ham hock soup, which is the traditional meal eaten after a loved one passes away in District 12.[1]
Personality and traits[]
Mamaw seemed to be kind and knowledgeable. She had various sayings about different aspects of life that Haymitch still remembers.
