- "Magno Stift's the guy who's been assigned to the District 12 tributes for as long as I can remember. And yes, he's every bit as bad as they say. While the other stylists do new costumes each year for the parade and interviews that happen before the Games, he seems to have a limitless supply of the same crappy coal miner overalls in an array of sizes."
- —Haymitch Abernathy describing Magno[src]
Magno Stift was the stylist for District 12 during the 50th Hunger Games.
Biography[]
Magno had been the District 12 stylist for several years by the time of the Second Quarter Quell, at least 10 years, since Magno was 12's stylist for as long as Haymitch Abernathy could remember. He promoted live-reptile fashion, and for the 49th Hunger Games, a turtle he was using as a belt buckle fell off and bit Drusilla Sickle, the escort, who then bit Magno back.[1] He sent the tributes to their interviews in their training outfits and was placed on probation because of it.[2]
50th Hunger Games[]
Magno arrived late to prepare his tributes for the chariot rides. Although he had promised new outfits for the Quarter Quell, he dressed the four District 12 tributes—Haymitch Abernathy, Wyatt Callow, Maysilee Donner, and Louella McCoy—in the same coal miner outfits he had used for years.[1]
When Proserpina and Vitus arrived at Magno's apartment to plan the makeup and hair for the District 12 tributes' interviews, they found him sick and inebriated from licking toads for their hallucinogenic venom.[3] Before the interviews, Magno arrived late carrying a snake, saying he needed to dress his tributes (who had already been dressed with clothes from Messalina and Silius Trinket). When Lou Lou saw the snake, she said "mine," and Magno instructed her on how to hold it. She wore the snake during her interview.[4]
Before Haymitch entered the arena, Effie had to meet him in the launch room because nobody was able to find Magno.[5]
As Haymitch set off on his Victory Tour, Plutarch Heavensbee informed him that Magno had been fired for negligence.[6]
Physical description[]
Magno had sun-leathered skin tattooed with a snakeskin pattern. He was often seen wearing live reptiles, including as a turtle belt buckle and garter snake earrings. For the chariot rides before the 50th Hunger Games, he wore a long shirt made of metal diamonds, sandals that laced all the way up his legs, and no pants.[1] He was older than 60 years, since he had been licking toads since the war, which ended 50 years prior.[3]
