Junius, also known by the nickname Beanpole, was a male Peacekeeper assigned to District 12. He was originally from the Capitol.[1]

Biography[]

Beanpole had no recognition of Coriolanus Snow despite Snow's frequent appearances of the 10th Hunger Games, a sign of how little attention the Games got outside of the Capitol.[2]

After duty on the Saturday of Beanpole’s first week Peacekeeping, he was assigned latrine duty due to his shortcomings as a Peacekeeper while his bunkmates played poker in the rec room. [2]That evening, Sejanus Plinth arrived, who cheered Beanpole up by opting to help him with his drill performance.[3]

Depite Sejanus’ help, Beanpole still fainted during drills one Friday. His bunkmates took him to the clinic, where Snow took a metal can of powder to heal heat rash.[4]

He joined Snow and Smiley, another Peacekeeper, in a visit to the Hob and got inebriated.[5] This became a habit of his and Bug would help him get back to the barrack.

He later expressed worry that Commander Hoff might suspect that they were all involved after Sejanus was hung for treason. Smiley pointed out that he had nothing to worry about because he was from the Capitol. Beanpole shot back that Sejanus Plinth had also come from the Capitol, but Bug noted that this wasn't really true, since Plinth had originally come from District 2 and still talked about it a lot.[1]

Physical description[]

Beanpole was a young, nervous individual, a recent recruit of the Peacekeepers who seemed to need reassurance. His small frame was what earned him his nickname. He had a fear of heights. Beanpole also had two left feet and a concave chest, which made him the subject of much ridicule during drills.[2]
