Hychel was one of two male tributes from District 5 who participated in the 50th Hunger Games.

Biography

50th Hunger Games

Before the games, Hychel and his district partners get recruited by the Careers to counter the Newcomers. During the tribute interviews, District 4 fumbled to put together a good response on how they were planning to combat the other Newcomers, so District 5 held an emergency meeting. Hychel, along with the others, did their best to highlight the weaknesses of the rival alliance but the Careers obviously had no plan.

Hychel died on either the first or fourth day, along with one of the girls from his district, perishing in either the bloodbath or the volcano eruption.

Etymology

Possibly a blend of "hydro" and "chemical," hinting at energy sources.

Trivia

• In Sunrise on the Reaping, when the dead appear in the sky during the 50th Hunger Games, one boy and girl from District 5 died on the first day and the other two died on the fourth day. As their names are not given, it is unknown which day Hychel died on.
• Hychel, along with Alpheus, Janus, Nona, Lect, Coil, Bircher, Heartwood, Ryan, Clayton, Midge, and the rest of his district and District 8, is only named on the tribute board.
