Hazelle Hawthorne

Biography

Mother of Gale Hawthorne, Hazelle works and lives in District 12.

Work

Hazelle worked as a washer woman. She would collect people's dirty laundry, wash it, and then return it to the owner.

This buisness did rather well, until right before the 75th Hunger Games. Gale had been caught poaching, and was beaten brutally. People stopped using her services for a bit after that, and her family was starving.

Afterward, Katniss and Peeta hired her to take care of Haymitch. This results in extra money for her, and a much higher standard of living for Haymitch.

Personality

Hazelle is very personable and wise. She knows how to do things, and is willing to teach others. Katniss looks up to Hazelle, and often goes to her when she needs help or advice.

Family

Hazelle is a woman devoted to her family. Her husband died in a horrible mine accident 4 years ago, leaving her alone at home with her four children. Gale, the oldest, helps her a lot with taking care of the family, due to his poaching he does with Katniss Everdeen. Rory, her second oldest son, is old enough to get tessera now that he's turned twelve. Vick and Posy, her youngest children, are her entire reason for working so hard. It is unknown at this point if Hazelle and the rest of her children escaped the District 12 bombing.
