Haymitch Abernathy's girlfriend was a girl from District 12 who dated Haymitch Abernathy.[1]
Biography[]
This girl lived in District 12, and she had been dating Haymitch Abernathy around the time of the 50th Hunger Games.[2]
When Haymitch was sixteen,[1] he was one of four tributes reaped for the 50th Hunger Games or second Quarter Quell. Haymitch managed to lead his final opponent, a District 1 female, to the edge of the arena and use its force field to launch her own axe back at her.[2] He was subsequently crowned as District 12's second victor.[3]
Death[]
Two weeks after his victory, Haymitch's mother, younger brother, and girlfriend were killed as punishment for his game-winning stunt, which had made the Capitol look foolish. Haymitch recounted these events to Katniss Everdeen twenty-five years later.[1]
Relationships[]
Haymitch Abernathy[]
- "I think of Haymitch, unmarried, no family, blotting out the world with drink. He could have had his choice of any woman in the district. And he chose solitude. Not solitude— that sounds too peaceful. More like solitary confinement."
- —Katniss Everdeen[src]
Little is known of this girl's relationship with Haymitch, but he was profoundly affected by her loss. He is not known to have ever married, or even been romantic with another woman after her.[4] However, in the films he occasionally engaged in light flirtation with Effie Trinket,[5] and the two kissed in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.[6]
