Castor was from the Capitol and worked as a cameraman who filmed Katniss Everdeen in District 13's propos.[1][2]
Biography[]
Castor's brother Pollux was made into an Avox, enslaved, and forced to work in the Capitol's underground utility corridors and Transfer. After five years, Castor was able to buy Pollux's way aboveground,[3] and the two worked alongside one another as cameramen.[2]

When Katniss sang "The Hanging Tree" to Pollux at the lake, Castor covertly recorded it. In the Mockingjay novel, this footage was never aired, and later it was used to help deprogram Peeta Mellark's hijacking.
In The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, it was used in a propo and spread across the districts, where it was then used as a protest song.[4]

Katniss's sharpshooter squad, Squad 451, was accompanied by the film crew throughout their time in the Capitol. When they all headed underground to avoid being spotted alive,[3] lizard mutts killed many of their number, including Castor.[5]
Physical description[]
Castor was described as a burly man[1] with sandy hair, a red beard, blue eyes, and close-bitten nails. He resembled his brother, Pollux.[2]
Etymology[]
Castor and Pollux owe their names to twin brothers in Greek and Roman mythology. The myth states that they had the same mother, Leda, but different fathers (Tyndareus and Zeus, respectively). This made Castor mortal and Pollux immortal, which is fitting because Mockingjay's Pollux lives and Castor dies.
