Donald McNichol Sutherland (July 17, 1935 – June 20, 2024) was an award-winning Canadian actor who portrayed Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games[1], The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and Part 2. For his role in The Hunger Games, Sutherland wrote a long letter to Gary Ross, as he had loved the script and wanted to participate in any way possible. They agreed that he would portray President Snow.[2]
Career[]
Sutherland began acting in 1962. He studied at the University of Toronto and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Sutherland was an Officer of the Order of Canada, that country's highest civilian honor for merit, and received two Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and an Academy Honorary Award. Members of Sutherland's family are also actors, including his second wife, Shirley Douglas, and his third wife, Francine Racette. His sons Kiefer, Rossif, and Angus, act as well.
The films Sutherland starred in include Klute, National Lampoon's Animal House, JFK, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

- Before portraying President Snow, Donald Sutherland appeared as Chairman John Thorn in Land of The Blind. As with President Snow, Thorn was an absolute dictator.
