The District 12 music teacher was a woman who taught music at the school in District 12.[1]
Biography[]
On Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark's first day of school at age five, their music teacher asked if anyone knew the valley song. Katniss's hand shot up, so the teacher stood her up on a stool and had her sing it for the class. When Katniss finished the song, Peeta realized he had a crush on her.[1]
At some point in the next eleven years, the teacher told her students about mountain airs. As Katniss thought of a song to sing to Rue as she lay dying in the 74th Hunger Games, she thought that her teacher would use that term to describe "Deep in the Meadow".[2] The teacher was briefly mentioned again when Peeta recounted the music assembly story to Katniss during the Games.[1]
