Biography

Mockingjay

While voting on Alma Coin's proposal for a 76th Hunger Games with Capitol children, Johanna Mason mentioned that Snow had a granddaughter who could participate. As a result, Johanna and Enobaria voted in favor of a final Hunger Games, whereas Beetee Latier, Annie Cresta, and Peeta Mellark voted against, citing that the Games were what they fought against to begin with and they needed reconciliation. Katniss Everdeen voted for the Games in an attempt to make President Coin lower her guard and take vengeance for Primrose Everdeen's death, and Haymitch Abernathy voted likewise to support Katniss. Coin told Snow before his scheduled execution that they intended to hold the final Games with his granddaughter.[1]

However, the plan for the final Hunger Games was forgotten after President Coin was assassinated by Katniss moments later, and Snow himself died seconds after Coin.[2] Snow's granddaughter and her family were presumably shown mercy.

Snow and granddaughter

President Snow and his granddaughter in Catching Fire.

She made her first appearance wearing her hair in Katniss's signature braid, appearing to look up to her as a role model. When President Snow questioned when she started wearing it like that, she replied that everyone at school wore it that way, as it is a trend in the Capitol. Unsurprisingly, Snow barely hid his displeasure. However, he did genuinely seem to care about his granddaughter; when she watched Katniss tearfully hugging Peeta in the Hunger Games after Finnick Odair revived him, she said she wanted to love someone that much someday. Snow beamed at her and replied, "And so you shall, my darling. So you shall."[3]

Snow's granddaughter undoing her braid.

In a televised speech, Snow declared association with the mockingjay symbol illegal and an act of treason, punishable by death. His granddaughter quickly realized what her braid now represented and undid it during the announcement.

She also appeared in a deleted scene that took place sometime after Peeta's first propo. Before Peeta entered Snow's office, his granddaughter called him, having heard that Peeta was going to be there, and asked her grandfather if she could meet him. However, Snow told her that this was a business meeting and that they would arrange for her to talk with Peeta another time.[4]
