Chicory was one of two female tributes from District 11 who participated in the 50th Hunger Games.[1]
Biography[]
50th Hunger Games[]
Before the start of the games, Chicory joined an alliance between District 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 tributes in an attempt to counter the Career pack. Chicory and her district partners were considered "a game changer" by Haymitch Abernathy.[2]
On the way to the arena, 11 shared a hovercraft with 12, whose tribute Lou Lou fixated on Chicory's token - a flower made of grass - and sung the District 11 harvest song. Chicory was surprised that someone not from her district knew the song and sung a different one to find out if Lou Lou knew that one. When she joined in with Chicory, Maysilee Donner admitted that the original "Lou Lou" (Louella McCoy) was dead and her doppelganger was also from District 11. Chicory did not know who Lou Lou could be, and when she asked, Lou Lou grabbed her ear and started shrieking.[3]
After the Games begin, Chicory survived the initial bloodbath and joined the rest of the Newcomers on the mountain. After a volcanic explosion, Chicory, Hull and Buck escaped together.[4]
Death[]
On the fourth day, Chicory, Hull and Buck encountered a porcupine muttation, which attacked them by shooting its long, metallic quills at them. Haymitch Abernathy and Maysilee discovered Chicory and Buck writhing in pain and pawing at the quills embedded in their bodies. Hull was well enough to run away but refused to leave his allies. By the time Haymitch and Maysilee chased the porcupine away, Chicory was dead.[4]
During the Victory Tour, Haymitch faced Chicory's distraught, grieving family.[5]

Chicory is an edible plant.
