Bircher was one of two male tributes from District 7 who participated in the 50th Hunger Games.[1]
Biography[]
50th Hunger Games[]
Before the start of the games, Bircher joined an alliance between District 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 tributes in an attempt to counter the Career pack. Bircher's district was the first to join the Newcomers alliance. The District 7 tributes suggested the name Invaders for the alliance. Bircher and his district partners were considered "nothing special" by Haymitch Abernathy, but they made a good impression during a knife throwing session by Hersilia during training.[2]
Bircher died in the initial bloodbath with the other boy from his district, Heartwood.[3]
Etymology[]
Related to "birch," a type of tree.
Physical description[]
The District 7 tributes' training outfits were russet brown.[4] The District 7 tributes had carved wooden trinkets for their tokens.
Trivia[]
- Bircher, along with Alpheus, Janus, Nona, Lect, Coil, Heartwood, Ryan, Clayton, Midge, and all of Districts 5 and 8, is only named on the tribute board.
